Amalgam Comics & Coffeehouseis the first black woman-owned comic book store on the entire East Coast. Owner Ariell Johnson opened the store in 2015 with a dream of creating a welcoming space for like-minded individuals to geek out. As a bonus, there’s also a coffee shop in the store with plenty of beverage options and baked goods. If you’re looking to unleash your inner nerd, Amalgam Comics is definitely your destination. 

City Planter

City Planter opened in 2008 in Northern Liberties as a plant haven rooted in community spirit. Not only does the shop have beautiful houseplants of all shapes and sizes, but it also offers an array of classes and workshops to learn the essentials of plant care. City Planter is a small, family-owned business that always gives back to the community. Show some love and liven up your living space with gorgeous plants!

Fishtown Bikes-n-Beans

Searching for a new bike or need a repair? Fishtown Bikes-n-Beans is the place to go. This small business offers children’s bikes, used bikes, new bikes and bike trade-ins.
